BBC One Peter Crouch promo issues

Today saw the launch of the full-version promotion for one of BBC One’s highest profile shows in recent weeks: Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer. Hopefully the comedy in the show will be better than the trail suggests.

Anyhow, on to matters of presentation. So, no great surprise that the endboard features the type of lack of attention to branding elements that we’ve come to expect from BBC One lately: the programme title in BBC Reith (not the standard for BBC One trails), whilst the programme transmission day/time is in the standard BBC One font.

However, something else caught our attention earlier today. A version of this trail also appeared on social media. Below, a copy from BBC Creative’s Twitter feed. Notice anything different about the opening sequence?

That’s right – the camera work would seem to indicate that an earthquake was in progress. Presumably this was an earlier take, and a change was requested for the final transmission version.
