2pm This week’s ITV idents were produced by Louise Bristow
The 1.30pm ITV junction saw the usual weekly rotation of ITV Creates idents. This week, Louise Bristow’s idents get another airing. They were first seen on air in September 2019.
Louise was born in London and studied painting at Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology before moving to Brighton to study printmaking at Brighton University.
She has lived in Brighton ever since, helping to set up and run a group studio called Maze, and later joining Phoenix Brighton.
11pm BBC One launches new trail format for the BBC News at Ten
A new trail format for the BBC News at Ten launched in the 9pm BBC One junction. The new BBC blocks logo and BBC One OSP elements have been incorporated into the trail for the first time.
It’s unclear if a 9pm trail for the nightly news programme is to become a regular fixture in the schedule.

2.45pm Mocked up BBC logo and outdated ITV logo replaced on EBU website
A few hours ago, we put out a tweet drawing attention to a mocked up BBC logo on the EBU website. The same page – listing all the EBU member broadcasters – also had an out-of-date ITV logo.
Less than 3 hours later, the site had been updated. The dud BBC logo had been replaced by an official copy of the 1997 – 2021 logo. Well, it’s better than what was there earlier today.
The 2006 – 2013 ITV logo was replaced with a copy of the current ITV logo.
A minor victory. Particularly pleased to have another unofficial variation of the BBC logo removed.

5pm BBC Newsline branding anomalies since April update
On 25th April, in line with other programmes across BBC TV News, BBC Newsline updated its titles and on-screen graphics with the new BBC blocks logo.
However, the change also introduced a couple of anomalies.
The music that accompanied the in-programme sting was changed to the music played at the close of the programme. This sting also acts as the short titles for the weekday lunchtime bulletin and weekend bulletins.
The second issue relates to the titles/sting visuals. When the new BBC blocks logo was added, the designer made the schoolboy error of leaving a thin grey border around the edges of the imported image.

7.15pm Public service announcement material embedded in BBC TV programme links
Unusual to hear public service announcement-type material weaved into BBC TV programme links.
8.30pm Aspect ratio glitching on Dave
TV Whirl has reported aspect ratio issues on Dave this evening.

11.15am BBC Three’s The Catch Up loses standalone entry on EPGs
BBC Three’s nightly news update – The Catch Up – has now been reduced to a 2-minute slot on EPGs (it was 5).
The programme also no longer has a standalone listing on the Sky/Freeview/Freesat EPGs. Instead, it’s included in the description text of the programme that precedes it.
The TV Guide on the BBC website continues to list the programme separately.

UPDATE: as of 24th May 2022, The Catch Up once again had a standalone listing on the Sky EPG (and also Freeview/Freesat EPGs):

1pm Channel 4 Tweet relates current All4 subtitling issues to September 2020 Red Bee incident
Channel 4 might want to review the SLAs it has agreed for subtitle fault resolution. It seems quite extraordinary that current issues with All4 are being tied back to the Red Bee incident last September.

7pm Unofficial BBC logo on RHS Chelsea Flower Show programme titles
This evening’s edition of The RHS Chelsea Flower Show on BBC One appears to be using a mocked-up BBC logo (with off-centre lettering) in its opening titles – that presumably someone obtained via a quick Google search.
UPDATE: the next evening edition of the programme, shown on BBC Two on Monday, used an updated version of the titles – minus the offending BBC logo.

9pm My5 gets revised logo
Channel 5’s on-demand service My5 recently had its logo updated. Here it is in action, in a new-style trail for the service, aired on Channel 5 earlier this evening.
