Tuesday 30th November

10.55am Sky News formally launches on Saorview

After some further engineering adjustments this morning, Sky News went live on Ireland’s DTT network (Saorview) at 10.55am today.

11am BBC Press Release features footage of three BBC One Christmas idents

The BBC published video clips of three of the Christmas BBC One idents online. As well as the three idents included in the press release, there will be another three ‘news safe’ idents.

7.30pm Look how scruffy the floor is on The One Show

The One Show’s studio floor is looking very much the worse for wear at the minute.

Wednesday 1st December

5.59am ITV presentation moves into Christmas mode

The first Christmas ident of the festive season has appeared on ITV. Festive break bumpers were introduced during Good Morning Britain. Break bumper and trail designs are the same as last year. Break bumpers appear to come in red only this year and also promote the Britain Get Talking campaign.

12pm Channel 5’s Christmas presentation launches

Channel 5 has also formally launched its festive OSP. Idents, break bumpers and trail graphics are as per December 2020.

1.28pm STV Christmas idents appear

STV aired its first Christmas ident of the festive season. TV Whirl reports that 2019’s idents appear to be back in use.

2pm S4C launches its Christmas OSP

This year’s package was produced in partnership with JM Creative and Picl Animation. A series of animated sequences feature a range of Welsh animals who remind us of some of the past year’s events in a playful and magical way.

6.15pm BBC News at Six broadcast from BBC Wales HQ

Tonight’s BBC News at Six and BBC News at Ten are to be broadcast from the new BBC Wales headquarters at Central Square, Cardiff.

Thursday 2nd December

2.30pm Virgin Media nationwide TV outage and London Freeview disruption

A “major power outage” is being blamed for the loss of all TV services on the Virgin network. By 1.45pm, Virgin Media said that BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, ITV+1 and Channel 4 had been restored.

Meanwhile Freeview viewers in the London area are experiencing disruption to channels on the D3/4 multiplex. Affected channels: ITV, ITV+1, ITV 2, ITV 3, ITV 4, Channel 4, Channel 4+1, E4, E4+1, Film4, More4 and Channel 5.

By 10pm, Virgin Media provided this update: “We’re continuing to restore TV services with almost all channels now back up and many customers’ services fully restored. We sincerely apologise for the issues with our TV service earlier.”

As of 11.30pm, there’s no further update on the London Freeview D3/4 multiplex issue.

7.15pm BBC DOG updated for live TV feeds on iPlayer

The BBC iPlayer live stream DOG has been updated with the new BBC blocks logo. The updated logo is smaller and more transparent than its predecessor.

Friday 3rd December

7am Virgin Media issues updated statement regarding TV service outage

“Customers should now be able to use their TV services as usual. We’re currently unable to make any changes to TV packages right now but are working to restore this as soon as possible. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

11am Sophie Raworth to present BBC One Sunday morning political show from January

The BBC has announced that Sophie Raworth will present BBC One’s flagship Sunday morning show (currently The Andrew Marr Show) on an interim basis from January. The new programme will temporarily be titled Sunday Morning.

Andrew Marr recently announced he would be leaving the BBC after 21 years. He will present The Andrew Marr Show for the final time on 19th December.

2.30pm London Freeview issue confirmed resolved

@FreeviewAdvice has confirmed for us that yesterday’s issue affecting D3/4 multiplexes has been resolved.

Saturday 4th December

4pm Christmas idents spotted on Channel 4

@theidentgallery reported that at least one Christmas ident – Lights – has been spotted on Channel 4 this afternoon.

7.40pm Christmas presentation launches on BBC TV

BBC One’s festive presentation package launched immediately after Strictly Come Dancing. BBC Four was next, airing its first Christmas ident in the 8.30pm junction. And last out of the traps was BBC Two at 10pm.

There was an unscheduled junction on BBC Two at 9.30pm – an edition of QI was aired because the snooker finished early. However, the 9.30pm junction contained standard presentation.

Sunday 5th December

4.30pm New Christmas ident spotted on Channel 4

Spotted by @Brekkietweets, this new Christmas ident aired shortly after 4pm today, linking into Snowman and the Snowdog. The ident is associated with The Abominable Snow Baby, which airs on Christmas Eve.
