2pm Megan Broadmeadow’s work airs again on ITV
At 1.30pm, ITV moved on to another set of ITV Creates idents. This week, we’ll see again the work of artist Megan Broadmeadow and drone specialists Mike Bishop and Ben Sheppard.
The collaboration between Megan, Mike and Ben first aired in September last year.
Megan Broadmeadow is a British artist working in installation, video, VR and digital technologies.
7pm Technical glitches during news coverage of new PM announcement
Our readers have flagged up a few technical blips that occurred during today’s news coverage of the announcement of the new Prime Minister.
A few minutes into BBC One’s special programme at 12pm, a live piece by Huw Edwards in Downing Street fell off air and was replaced briefly by colour bars. Studio-based Joanna Gosling quickly stepped in.
On Politics Live on BBC Two, a live shot of 10 Downing Street abruptly cut to colour bars, with a GB News logo overlaid. GB News would’ve been part of a pool of broadcasters providing live pictures.
And over on the ITV Lunchtime News, a live conversation in front of 10 Downing Street, between presenter Nina Hossain and political editor Robert Peston, came to an unexpected end when the line was lost. We were taken back to the studio, where Geraint Vincent was on standby.
10pm ITV Evening News blooper goes viral
The opening seconds of tonight’s edition of the ITV Evening News has been viewed tens of thousands of times on social media.
Presenter Mary Nightingale was providing the opening link to camera, live from Downing Street, when someone briefly passed in front of the camera. A slight wobble in Mary’s voice was also noted by viewers.

6pm Late schedule change causes playout mishap on BBC Two Wales
Extended coverage of the appointment of Liz Truss as the new UK prime minister meant that today’s edition of Pointless moved from BBC One to BBC Two.
On BBC Two Wales, a minor mishap with the playout schedule meant we got a few seconds of BBC One’s one rolling news coverage, rather than the start of Pointless.
The issue was quickly rectified.
11.30pm The lesser heard Newsnight closing theme
On the day that Liz Truss was formally installed as the UK prime minister, Newsnight produced a short montage of images from the day’s events, accompanied by its rarely used closing theme.
Ordinarily, the programme’s opening theme is also used at the end of the programme.
Stuart Denman: “We recorded this longer version when we updated the opening theme in 2019. We’re such terrible timekeepers though we used the opening arrangement for the end as well to save a few seconds each night.”

What a coincidence how Megan Broadmeadow’s work has appeared again in the same month as it first aired!
