2pm ITV gives Kashif Nadim Chaudry’s ident another week

The usual weekly rotation of ITV Creates idents took place in the 1.45pm junction.

This week, artist Kashif Nadim Chaudry’s collaboration with robotics engineers Jonathan Cheung and Henry Wood gets another airing. Kashif’s work was first aired in November last year.

12pm Trace Hits morphs into Trace Xmas

Music channel Trace Hits was replaced by Trace Xmas early this morning. That’s the earliest launch yet for a Christmas-themed channel in the UK.

Last year, the music channel went into Christmas mode on 22nd September.

8.30pm BBC Alba’s An Là reveals tweaked set and theme tune

After a few days based in a temporary CSO set, tonight’s edition of An Là saw the programme return to an updated version of its main set.

The back panels of the set previously included one large TV screen and two fixed images at either side. The panels have now been entirely replaced – but look very similar to what went before.

A key difference is that we now have three large TV screens within the panels, with the ability to display images sent through from the gallery.

The oval/rectangle desk has been replaced with a smaller circular desk.

The programme’s theme tune has also undergone a minor update.

10pm BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio Foyle update social media branding

The BBC’s Northern Irish radio stations have this evening switched to the new Chameleon branding across their social media accounts.

BBC Radio Ulster moved first. BBC Radio Foyle followed later, after 9pm.

Foyle’s large profile images seem to be out-of-step with the Chameleon branding used for Ulster. Hopefully just a temporary blip.

UPDATE: by Friday evening, BBC Radio Foyle had updated its large profile images with to reflect the new Chameleon branding.

12pm Dateline London still using old BBC News patch logo

Months after it was replaced, the old BBC News patch logo lives on in the Dateline London opening titles.

Presumably the patch logo is burnt on to the title sequence, rather than added live.

One of the BBC’s longest-running and most internationally respected news programmes, Dateline London is to due to air its final edition at the end of this month, after 25 years on air.

7.15pm Augmented reality glitch in BBC News opening titles

The augmented reality version of the “hoop” that hangs over the BBC newsroom failed to kick into action during the opening titles for BBC One’s 6.35pm national news.

This feature has been seen to misbehave in recent weeks. In an earlier glitch, it was stuck in a specific spot – failing to track with the camera movement.

There was a similar issue this evening – but this time the fake hoop was barely visible due to a keying issue.
