BBC One/BBC News Channel handover

With the BBC News branding/graphics refresh, we were curious about a relatively minor element of BBC presentation – the status of the BBC News Channel sting used for the handover when BBC One programmes finish for the night.

BBC One Network has updated their sting with the latest BBC News logo, as can be seen in this example from the handover that occurred a few minutes ago:

Full marks also to BBC One Northern Ireland. Here, the BBC News logo has always been included (network didn’t always include the BBC News logo in their version of the sting). In time for last Monday night, the logo was updated to the new BBC Reith version. Here’s a recording from last night:

BBC One Scotland has generally followed the same practice as network, although they did use the 2008 ident long after it was discontinued. Last night’s handover confirms that they are still using a logoless sting.

Don’t know what the heck is going on at BBC One Wales. Here, not only is there no logo, the sting footage is zoomed.

By Sunday night, BBC One Wales had replaced the zoomed sting with an updated version, complete with new BBC News logo:
