Rare BBC News Channel acknowledgement of late-night BBC One handover

BBC One’s late-night handover to the BBC News Channel is generally less than slick. More often than not, BBC One viewers join the channel in the middle of a report/programme.

Last night though, BBC One playout joined the 24-hour news operation neatly at their thirty minutes past the hour junction.

And even more unusual was the verbal acknowledgement by presenter David Eades that BBC One viewers had just joined. Although reasonably common practice in the early years of these overnight handovers, such references to BBC One by news channel presenters have been few and far between for many years.
