2pm James Brunt idents return as ITV Creates project nears end
The first ITV junction of the new week saw us move on to another set of ITV Creates idents.
This week sees the return of artist James Brunt’s idents – first aired in week 3 of the ITV Creates campaign in January 2019.
This may well be the last full week for ITV Creates. A new look for the ITV broadcast channels is expected to air from next Tuesday. The new look was expected to debut on 3rd November but has been delayed. The new date of 15th November should be regarded as subject to change.
4pm Rare 1970s BBC Two programme slide aired this afternoon
There aren’t too many examples of programme slides from BBC Two’s 1967 – 1974 presentation package in the public domain.

10am UKTV reveals new on-screen presentation for Dave
Commercial broadcaster UKTV has today unveiled a fresh new look for entertainment channel Dave, set to launch on 9th November.
UKTV’s chief marketing officer, Penny Brough, who joined the company in September, said:
“Dave is an iconic TV brand so it is a particularly exciting time to enter the business as its fresh new look hits screens. Following this year’s successful W and UKTV Play brand refreshes, this marks the next step in Dave’s evolution as it expands its footprint and draws in new viewers.”
Nick Gilmer, UKTV’s interim marketing director for Dave, led the rebrand after utilising audience insights and working with brand consultancy Eat Big Fish on new brand positioning. Brand strategists Craig+Bridget were consulted to help create the brief, while in-house agency UKTV Creative designed and delivered all new brand assets in collaboration with branding agency Studio Output.
Nick said: “With a brand as distinctive and celebrated as Dave, keeping it fresh and relevant to audiences was a real balancing act.
“We had to ensure Dave continues to feel modern and resonates with viewers without losing the unique identity that made the brand one of the most recognisable in TV.
“Our new look reflects our audience’s everyday world back at them in a uniquely Dave way, borrowing from our heritage and ensuring Dave provides viewers with a fresh fix of funny wherever they engage with the brand.”

4.50pm New ITV channel logos displayed on Freesat EPG
The new channel logos for ITV 2, ITV 3 and ITV 4 have appeared on the Freesat EPG, a week before they’re due to make their on-air debut.
The appearance of the new logos coincided with ITV 2 HD, ITV 3 HD and ITV 4 HD being made available free-to-air on Freesat earlier today.
UPDATE: by 10pm, the new logos had been removed and replaced with the current channel logos.

It’s perhaps worth mentioning that whilst ITV’s new branding may have appeared briefly on the Freesat EPG, prior to its on-air launch, over in the land of the BBC, we have quite a contrast.
New BBC channel logos were launched on air in October last year. However, the vast majority of the BBC’s TV and radio logos have yet to be updated on the main EPGs.

UPDATE: by 10th November, BBC TV and radio channel logos were updated on the Freeview EPG.

The update was intended to go live on 3rd November but has been delayed.
UPDATE: on 11th November, ITV confirmed the changes will appear on air from 15th November.

11pm Channel 4 cricket ident in use this evening
Ahead of coverage of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Final on Sunday, Channel 4 has been using a cricket-based ident in a number of peak time junctions this evening.
Initially, we thought this was a new ident but we’ve since been informed it was also used in 2019.

1.30pm BBC Newsline due to move to updated main studio on Monday
It’s been in a temporary studio since August but BBC Newsline’s new look main studio should be ready to make its on air debut on Monday.
9pm Additional BBC 100 Idents added featuring older footage
It’s been difficult not to notice the absence of any pre-1990s shows in the BBC 100 Years idents that have been airing since last month.
It’s not clear if there’s been much viewer feedback on this but this evening saw the first appearance of some new additions – with representation from earlier decades.
The ident linking into Strictly Come Dancing included footage from The Morecambe and Wise Show, Play School and a black and white edition of Blue Peter.
11.30pm Festive presentation already airing on Channel 5
It would seem that Channel 5 has been airing Christmas movies in the afternoon for the last couple of weeks.
And there’s a trail – complete with festive graphics.
