Politics Live opening curtailed due to technical issues

The opening sequence on today’s edition of Politics Live was cut short due to technical issues.

The first sign of problems came immediately after the opening titles, when Jo Coburn began verbally introducing the studio guests but viewers at home were seeing video of the governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey.

Belatedly, we cut to a wide shot of the studio and quickly on to the two guests that Jo had almost finished introducing. The director then caught up with Jo by quickly moving on to a shot of the other two studio guests.

We then cut to Jo in-vision, introducing the next part of the opening sequence, but the video she was expecting didn’t materialise.

The director lingered on Jo for a further 10 seconds, before the sequence was abandoned, with Jo explaining that technical issues meant they couldn’t continue with the headline segment.
