The idents got their first 2022 airing in the 1.30pm junction today.
7pm BBC London new studio rehearsals accidentally aired
BBC News Channel viewers got a brief glimpse of BBC London’s new studio environment this evening.
Whilst the programme went out as normal from Studio A (green screen studio) on BBC One, a glitch on the BBC News Channel resulted in rehearsals from the programme’s new studio – which were going on in parallel – being seen for a few seconds, prior to Sportsday.

12pm Unwind with ITV is recommissioned
ITV has announced that it has recommissioned the overnight Unwind with ITV series for another year.
The programme launched last October, replacing the long-running overnight text service, ITV Nightscreen.
Unwind with ITV is a nightly series of calming and reflective programming encouraging mindfulness and self care.
Susie Braun, ITV director of social purpose, said:
“Unwind with ITV has grown a huge audience with its unique recipe of mindful footage and inspiration. We hope with this new series people can continue to pause and reflect, whatever’s keeping them awake. ITV’s social purpose is shaping culture for good, and Unwind with ITV is a quiet and wonderful way to support mental wellbeing.”
Adam Mitchell, head of ITV programme strategy communication, said:
“I’m delighted to say that Unwind with ITV is returning for another year. We originally commissioned Unwind to provide an accessible space for anybody to take time to relax and reflect, and so far we’ve managed to support over 8 million people. We have some great ideas for the new series and hope anybody who finds themselves awake, for whatever reason, will find them just as peaceful and calming.”
Meg Keegan, producer, Rock Oyster Media said:
“Rock Oyster Media are absolutely delighted to have been commissioned to do a second series of Unwind With ITV. For this series we’re expanding our offering to include a variety of artists and craft makers, more voiceover, and cutting edge graphics along with a bespoke soundtrack provided by BMG. More than ever, people need a place to relax and unwind and we’re thrilled to be a part of facilitating that.”

7.15pm Question Time social media graphics still using old logos
Question Time’s social media team continues to use old BBC and programme-specific branding on its graphics.
Last week, we saw the new BBC blocks appear on at least one graphic. The new programme logo has put in its first appearance this week – but again, only on one graphic, as far as we can tell.
Other graphics are still using the old BBC blocks and old programme logo.

10pm Colourful language on Channel 4 News
On this evening’s Channel 4 News, when asked what she thought about Jacob Ress-Mogg’s explanation for the cause of recent turmoil in financial markets, Gillian Tett, US editor-at-large for the Financial Times responded, “…that’s pretty much bollocks.”.
At the end of the programme, presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy referenced Ofcom’s guidance on the on-air use of the word: “Medium language. Potentially unacceptable. Less problematic when used to mean nonsense.”
He went on: “I should however apologise to people who were relying on subtitles, for whom it was spelt, ‘Bullocks’.”

7.45pm Minor technical hiccup near the end of lunchtime BBC Midlands Today
There was a minor blip near the end of the lunchtime edition of BBC Midlands Today.
The closing theme was cued from a video source (that included the animated endboard) during the final seconds of a report. Although the music was intended to be faded up in the closing stages of the programme, the accompanying video was not intended to be seen.
However, the video of the animated endboard was inadvertently put to air as soon as it was cued.

10am BBC Newsline breakfast bulletin disrupted by technical issue
The 6.25am edition of BBC Newsline was unable to be broadcast as normal today due to lighting problems in the programme’s main studio caused by overnight power supply issues.
Instead, the bulletin was presented out-of-vision over a static slide by the duty continuity announcer.
The programme was more or less back to normal in time for the next bulletin at 6.55am – albeit based out of the small green screen studio C facility, which is also used for the late-evening bulletin on Thursdays.
Later breakfast bulletins were back in the programme’s main studio.
11.45pm Newsnight produces special opening sequence
Newsnight produced a special introduction for tonight’s programme, reflecting on the events leading up to the sacking of Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng by Liz Truss – all to the soundtrack of Sacrifice by Elton John.

7.30pm Liza Tarbuck not a fan of “miserable news” on the hour?
Liza Tarbuck definitely wins the award for best link into the news, for her introduction to the 7pm bulletin tonight.
“I’m sorry to have to interrupt this programme but we’ve got some miserable news for you and we’re going to bring it to you on the hour, every hour!”
9.15pm New Waterloo Road logo revealed
The BBC has published the new logo for the revived version of Waterloo Road.
The school-based drama returns to BBC One early next year.

10.45pm More wobblecam than trundlecam
The late BBC One news used a closing shot of the newsroom we’ve not seen before.
Slightly faster camera movement than usual too. Not sure if this is what caused trundlecam to have a fit of the wobbles?
11pm Green screen reflection on Kuenssberg publicity shot?
Saturday evening BBC News programmes typically use a publicity shot to promote the upcoming edition of Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.
The picture appears to have been taken on the same day as the shoot for the programme’s opening title sequence – which was filmed in a green screen set-up. And there’s definitely a hint of green screen reflection in Laura’s hair.
