As teased on Clean Feed over the last few weeks, the BBC has launched dedicated continuity for the North of England on BBC One.
The plan to launch such a service was first announced in March last year as part of The BBC Across the UK initiative.
BBC One North continuity will run at peak times only, for viewers in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, North West England and North East England. At other times, viewers in these areas will see the usual BBC One England strain of the channel.
BBC One North won’t have any special on-screen branding – unlike versions of the channel broadcast in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Having a dedicated continuity function for the North of England will allow BBC One to draw viewers’ attention to programmes that may be of more interest to viewers in that part of the country.
