12.10am “Stream ended” graphic marks the end of live Glastonbury coverage

It’s not by any means the first time this graphic has been shown but it’s the first time we’ve acknowledged it on Clean Feed.

When live streams from Glastonbury came to an end on the iPlayer, the basic animated graphic below was displayed. Indeed, it was shown at the end of the last of this year’s live feeds from the festival.

The graphic utilises the same template as other on air graphics created as part of the Chameleon branding project.

1.05pm BBC Sport bulletin graphics remain unchanged for now

In spite of the launch of new BBC Sport graphics this morning within the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage, graphics used for sport bulletins on the BBC News Channel remain unchanged for the time being.

The large BBC Sport logo in the office space behind the presenter also remained untouched.

2pm Repeat showing for the 2021 ITV Creates Pride ident

Thomas Wolski and Rebecca Smith collaborated on ITV’s Pride ident, the edits of which were first broadcast in May 2021.

From 1.30pm today, this group of Pride idents gets another week of airings on ITV.

ITV: “The inspiration for the collaboration is the mixing of monochrome fine-art illustration, modernised through the marriage of colourful digital projection.

“Using Tom’s signature illustrations as a base for an iconic artwork, joy and whimsy are woven into a story of visible pride and strength in community. Fractures in the artwork are filled with motion and colour from Rebecca’s vibrant modern projections, representing ‘the light within’, acting as the glue that holds it all together.”

5.15pm 5 News at 5 quietly rebranded again

From 6th June until 17th June, the 5pm news programme was branded 5 News at 5 with Dan Walker in EPGs. Since last Monday, it has reverted to 5 News at 5.

Was the rebranding always intended to be temporary, simply to highlight the arrival of Dan Walker as its new main presenter – or is there another explanation for the change?

We’re about a week late with this observation but still thought it worth noting.

8.30pm Special titles for Look North Harry Gration tribute programme

Tonight’s edition of Look North (Yorkshire) opened with special titles in tribute to long-serving presenter Harry Gration who died on Friday.

9.30pm BBC News at Ten EPG anomaly this week

An EPG oddity. For some reason, the BBC News at Ten is listed as ‘BBC News and Weather’ on most EPGs for the next week. BBC News at One and BBC News at Six are unaffected. The TV Guide on the BBC website is still listing it as BBC News at Ten.

Yes, there’s a possibility that Wimbledon could knock the programme off its 10pm spot – but this type of late rescheduling has not resulted in the programme being rebadged on EPGs on similar occasions in the past.

10.15pm Lots of out-of-date feature images on BBC iPlayer for BBC News programmes

There are a lot of out-of-date feature images for BBC News programmes on BBC iPlayer at the moment. Granted, most people won’t notice things like logo tweaks.

BBC Newsround’s feature image sticks out more than most. It still features Leah Boleto, who left the programme in early 2021. Leah is now a regular on Sky News and has also presented for 5 News.

UPDATE: what a difference a day makes. The feature image for BBC Newsround has been updated (see below).

UPDATE: BBC regional news feature images – and those for the national programmes in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales – had finally been updated by November/December 2022.

9am All BBC Reporting Scotland programmes to be based in “soft” set

Last year, the early evening weekday edition of BBC Reporting Scotland moved away from the main desk presentation area of its Studio C set and took up residence in the “soft set”. Presenters would now anchor the programme standing up.

Sarah McMullan confirmed in a tweet that the breakfast edition of the programme would now also be based in the soft set from today.

The weekday lunchtime and late-evening editions of the programme moved to the soft set yesterday.

11.20am BBC Wimbledon programme: old branding v new branding

Looks like the BBC Sport umbrellas took priority over mic covers for replacing with the updated branding.

Wednesday 29th June

10am A very familiar-looking logo: Barton Coach Company

Spotted by BBC journalist/presenter, Georgia Coan. The Barton Coach Company logo looks rather familiar.

Thursday 30th June

11.55pm Has a BBC logo ever appeared on ITV for so long?

Yesterday’s edition of This Morning included a segment about Troy Hawke, the creation of character comedian Milo McCabe.

Troy was seen greeting staff/visitors to Television Centre.

During the piece, a glass door featuring a BBC Studioworks logo was in shot. Has prominent BBC branding ever had so much screen time on ITV within a programme/advert?

During this excerpt from the rather funny segment, look out for the moment Emma Gormley, managing director, daytime, ITV Studios encounters Troy.

11.15am ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 Freeview services off air in Thirsk

Arqiva has issued a brief statement about a loss of ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 services from the Thirsk transmitter site:

We are aware of an issue at our Bilsdale not-spot site in Thirsk which is affecting services for ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 in the area. Our teams are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

According to Mike Manning: “The PSB2 Bilsdale satellite back-up has moved frequencies overnight. It seems one relay was not retuned in time.”

9pm Sound issues on ITV Evening News/ITV Weather

Some sound issues this evening at the end of the ITV Evening News and start of the ITV Weather.

  • Sound from the final report lingered during the closing link (dogs barking) on the ITV Evening News.
  • The programme’s closing music was cued incorrectly (played from the start).
  • The start of the national weather had no sound. Sound quickly materialised but was slightly out-of-sync with vision. The glitch was corrected a few seconds later.

Thanks to Paul R. Jackson for flagging.
