After last night’s new-look BBC News at Ten, we wondered what would happen for the live Newsnight preview at the end if the BBC Two programme wasn’t on air yet.

We didn’t have to wait long before we got our answer: an unexpected close-up of presenter Mark Urban.

2024: as yet unnamed extensions of BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3 to be made available on BBC Sounds.

The stations would be made available on DAB+ in 2025 subject to regulatory approval.

2024: BBC Radio 4 Extra to go online-only?

The BBC has provided no further update on this since the original announcement in 2022.

With BBC Radio 4 LW content moving to BBC Radio 4 Extra, and the BBC now planning to launch additional stations on DAB+, moving BBC Radio 4 Extra away from broadcast seems unlikely in the short-term.

30th June 2025: some energy customers still rely on the Radio Teleswitching Service (RTS) that's radiated from BBC Radio 4 LW transmitters. RTS is expected to cease on 30th June 2025.

BBC Radio 4 LW transmissions are expected to cease in parallel with the switch-off of RTS.

2025: BBC Four and CBBC go online-only?

There's been no further official comment on this from the BBC since its original announcement in 2022.
