BBC Two switches to breakdown mode ahead of Newsnight

BBC Two experienced some issues getting tonight’s edition of Newsnight on the air.

We don’t normally see programme menus on the BBC these days. Their appearance now usually means something is wrong. They’re typically used as a filler whilst a technical issue is being resolved.

It’s unclear what caused the delay getting to Newsnight. The announcer was forced to read through the menu twice and play some music.

The programme made it to air a little under three minutes late. Tonight’s programme was presented live from Belfast by Emma Vardy.
