2pm Create and Young Carers get ITV Creates slot

Branding of the main ITV channel has been handed to Create and Young Carers for the week. Their idents were first broadcast as part of the ITV Creates project in August 2020.

Although no new idents have been aired by ITV this year, idents produced for the ITV Creates project have been getting another week on the airwaves since the start of January.

Wednesday 16th March

7pm BBC Look North off air due to fire alarm

Due to a fire alarm at the studios, the early evening edition of BBC Look North for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire was not broadcast. Viewers received BBC London News instead.

10pm BBC Radio station branding on Twitter

As reported to us yesterday by Twitter user @LyricWest2, national BBC Radio stations have been updating their Twitter profiles with their new logos.

Here’s how things look this evening (exactly the same as when this was flagged to us yesterday evening):

We can see here that BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Extra and BBC Radio 5 Live are yet to update their respective profiles to the new BBC Reith branding.

The individual feeds are also carrying a mishmash of branding. Examples:

And thanks to Twitter user @JoshxReid for drawing our attention to various new presenter/programme images that are being added to the BBC Sounds website today, that tie in with the new radio branding.

11pm Channel 5 discontinues use of Ukrainian ident

Channel 5 this morning resumed use of its standard set of idents.

On 5th March, we first reported that Channel 5 had started using an ident featuring the colours of the Ukrainian flag. It quickly became clear that this ident was being played in all junctions. And this continued to be the case until the early hours of this morning.

The Ukrainian ident was first spotted by The Ident Gallery on 5th March. We are unable to confirm if it was in use prior to this date.
