ITV’s modern day equivalent to the test card – Unwind with ITV – launched in the early hours of this morning.
This new fixture in ITV’s night-time schedule replaces the longstanding text-based information service ITV Nightscreen, which was aired for the final time yesterday.
Since the late-1990s, ITV has been reluctant to schedule programmes in parts of the unprofitable overnight schedule. ITV Nightscreen and now Unwind with ITV are a cheap means of padding out the schedule in lieu of conventional programming.
Unwind with ITV is billed as “your daily escape designed to calm the mind and encourage relaxation and reflection”.
On its first outing tonight, we were treated to various scenic shots in and around a beach, accompanied by ambient music. Here are some edited highlights:
Incidentally, unlike its predecessor, Unwind with ITV is not linked into using an ITV ident.

I always wake around 3am and the last couple of nights I was delighted to see and hear this relaxing movie and relaxing sounds. What a great idea, so restful. Please keep showing Unwind with ITV.

Love the countryside, coastal and aerial shots with relaxing music but not the psychedelic imagery. Makes my eyes go funny 🤣. Just what I need after getting up at stupid o’clock. Keep this going please 🙏 🙂

Fantastic! Shame it’s only on in the middle of the night!

The beach is stunning as is the backdrop. Where is this this please?

Loving Unwind with ITV. Really like the bath royal crescent scenes and Plymouth Hoe scenes. Dislike the psychedelic versions. Wish there was a away to share these videos on social media or via Whatsapp or to make them available on YouTube to watch again later, without them expiring after a certain period of time once downloaded within the ITV Hub app.
