The BBC News Channel took an unexpected diversion to BBC World News at 4.30pm today.

Shortly before 4.30pm, presenter Jane Hill handed to the weather as usual. After some trails, the BBC News Channel took a news programme from BBC World News, rather than returning to Jane Hill in Studio E.

The screens in Studio C initially showed BBC World News branding.

Then at 4.51pm, the BBC World News programme came to an end, and the BBC News Channel returned to Jane Hill in Studio E.

There was no explanation for the unexpected appearance of BBC World News output. Some viewers reported autocue issues during the 4pm Studio E broadcast.
