ITV announcer makes reference to “UTV”

Since UTV switched to ITV branding/continuity in April, there have been no references to “UTV” by the ITV announcer (that we’re aware of). Until tonight.

Two pre-recorded announcements by a member of the network announcing team – Andrea Fox – made reference to “UTV”.

The first was the link into local programme Lough Foyle at 8pm. The second – at 9pm – signposted local current affairs programme View from Stormont, which was to follow later in the evening. But, somewhat bizarrely, the UTV reference came in the introduction to a networked show – The Cube.

The verbal mentions of “UTV” sit rather awkwardly against the “ITV” visuals.

Since the new playout arrangements were introduced, links relating to local programmes have either made no mention of the channel, or have referred to “ITV”.
