RTÉ confirms schedule for TV news changes

Posted on 14th December 2018 by The Clean Feed Team Last updated on 26th March 2021 Filed under News

RTÉ has confirmed that it is about to undertake a “major renovation” of its television news studio (Studio 3).

Speaking to The TV Room earlier today, a spokesperson said that news bulletins and related programming will be moving to other studios from mid-December to allow for the work to take place in Studio 3.

The new-look studio is due to be unveiled to viewers in late-January.  The spokesperson added that further details will be announced closer to the on-air launch.

Information about the changes first emerged in the summer.  The cost is thought to be in the region of €2m.  Display screens, lighting and other technical equipment is thought to be costing €600k.  Other speculated costs include: a new robotics system: €300k; LED lighting: €150k; studio automation system: €120k.
