BBC News Channel Observations

A quick comment about a couple of minor events on the BBC News Channel in the last 24 hours.

At 9am, the BBC News at Nine decided to break from the tradition of including a live shot of the newsroom in the opening titles, and instead treated us to a view of the outside of BBC Broadcasting House.

It’s unclear if this is just a one-off or if it’ll become a regular thing.

And in the early hours of Saturday morning, the BBC News Channel and BBC World News switched to a recording of the previous hour’s news.

Note the ‘Recorded’ bug is still in Helvetica, and features an incorrect shade of red (i.e., it’s not in line with the current BBC News branding colour scheme). After 15 minutes, normal service was resumed. No apology was offered.
