8.30pm RTÉ unions express anger at “drastic” job cuts and leaking of plans to media
RTÉ plans to reduce staff numbers by up to 400 by 2028 through voluntary redundancy under a plan sent to the Government.
The Trade Union Group (TUG) in RTÉ has called on management to release the full document to staff immediately “following [the] media leaking” of the plan.
In a statement, the TUG said: “It is not acceptable that staff should find out about the plan in this way and now be worried about the security of their jobs.”
Other items outlined in the leaked plan:
- +1 TV channels and digital radio stations to close.
- More independent productions.
- Increased production in Cork/other regions.

Tuesday 14th November
10.55am NUJ accepts BBC Local offer
The National Union of Journalists has voted to accept a BBC Local offer on jobs, income protection, and workload “along with new concessions on recorded radio news bulletins and shared programmes”.
- Turnout: 55%
- Yes (accept): 70%
- No (reject): 30%

3pm Irish Government agrees €56m interim funding for RTÉ
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed that the Irish Government has approved interim funding of €56 million for RTÉ, subject to conditions.
This includes €16 million in interim funding along with €40 million next year. It is understood that the €40 million will be paid in two instalments after the publication of reports aimed at reforming the organisation.

Wednesday 15th November
7.30pm BBC South Today unveils new set
BBC South Today broadcast from its new set for the first time this evening.
BBC South is the latest of the English regions to adopt a set design based on the design for the national news in Studio B at BBC Broadcasting House in London.
