1.35pm BBC Radio 4 MW transmitters now radiating closedown announcement
BBC Radio 4’s network of nine medium wave transmitters have now ceased broadcasting the station’s programme schedule.
A pre-recorded announcement about the closure of the service is now playing on a loop. It’s read by BBC Radio 4 announcer John Hammond:
“This BBC Radio 4 transmission has now closed. Please retune to FM, digital radio, digital TV, BBC Sounds or smart speakers to continue listening to BBC Radio 4. For more information visit http://bbc.co.uk/reception.”
Locations and frequencies affected:
- Aberdeen: 1449 MW
- Belfast: 720 MW
- Carlisle: 1485 MW
- Cornwall: 756 MW
- Derry-Londonderry: 720 MW
- Enniskillen: 774 MW
- London: 720 MW
- Newcastle: 603 MW
- Plymouth: 774 MW
The medium wave service covering Derry-Londonderry switched to the pre-recorded closure announcement at 12.27pm today.
We don’t have times for the other locations.
9pm Tomorrow’s strike by journalists at STV cancelled
Tomorrow’s planned strike by journalists at STV has been cancelled following “extensive talks” between management and the NUJ today.
Further talks are expected later this week.
Last month, 24-hour strike action by journalists blacked out all STV News output.
The union has been seeking a 6% salary increase for STV journalists.
A planned strike on 1st May remains in place for now.
