Monday 14th August
3.30pm ARD to end SD satellite transmissions by 2025
Germany’s ARD will end SD satellite broadcasts at the beginning of 2025. The terrestrial network is already HD only.
This ends a lengthy SD/HD simulcast of every national and regional channel.
Only a small minority of households are still dependent on SD transmissions, thanks to the wide reach of HD receivers.

Wednesday 16th August
1.30pm BBC News at One in Studio E again
Today’s BBC News at One was broadcast from the programme’s old home, Studio E.
BBC News creative director, Chris Cook, explained on social media that today’s 1pm and 6pm BBC One news programmes would be broadcast from Studio E, due to maintenance work in Studio B.
Thursday 17th August
11pm BBC Points West plays out yesterday’s weather forecast
The late edition of BBC Points West played out the weather forecast from the previous night’s programme in error.
“Enormous apologies to our viewers and my brilliant colleague @fergieweather. He provided us with a perfect pre-recorded late evening forecast and we accidentally played out the one from the previous night.

Friday 18th August
1am RTÉ unveils new logo for The Late Late Show
RTÉ yesterday unveiled a new logo for its flagship chat show, The Late Late Show, which returns on 15th September, with new presenter Patrick Kielty.
The still image shows what appears to be a representation of the moon, albeit using a blue, purple and green palette. The show’s title is displayed in a mix of white and blue lettering.
Many on social media noted the absence of the programme’s iconic owl imagery.
RTÉ has since confirmed that the owl will continue to be part of the programme’s branding.
Saturday 19th August
3pm EPG data suggests CITV channel will close on 1st September
Virgin Media EPG data suggests the CITV TV channel will close at 9pm on 1st September.
UPDATE (20th August, 10.30pm): ITV confirms CITV closure in a statement to Sky News: “As a consequence of this new streaming approach and responding to the changing ways children and their parents are increasingly accessing content, the CITV broadcast channel will close after the summer holidays on 1st September.”
10.35pm Sound issues on Match of the Day
Tonight’s edition of Match of the Day was temporarily affected by a sound fault on satellite, Freeview and cable. iPlayer was not affected by the issue.
Speculation online suggests an issue with the 5.1 audio from the studio.
