More BBC News camera gremlins

Since the move to New Broadcasting House in 2013, there seems to have been an endless supply of mishaps with the robotic cameras in the various BBC News studios.

Although the type of glitch/operator error follows a similar pattern on most occasions, there’s a degree of curiosity about how the presenter will handle the situation.

At the start of the 5.30am programme today, we had a slightly unusual strain of camera glitch.

Initially, it looked as though the camera was turning towards the catwalk, as expected, where presenter Victoria Valentine would link into the first report.

But the camera immediately began to turn away from the catwalk and towards the desk, leaving Victoria with no choice but to abandon the catwalk and head back to the desk.

Having followed the camera back to the desk, Victoria provided the link into the lead story.
