2pm June Mineyama-Smithson idents airing on ITV
As has been customary most weeks this year, we moved on to another set of ITV Creates in the 1.30pm Monday junction.
This week see the return of idents first aired in May 2021, produced by artist MAMIMU (June Mineyama-Smithson) in collaboration with neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart.
4.15pm BBC Look East Cambridge edition will not air today
BBC reporter and presenter Mousumi Bakshi has tweeted that the Cambridge edition of BBC Look East will not air at 6.30pm and 10.30pm this evening.
Mousumi tweet implies the cancellation of the two planned broadcasts is connected with today’s announcement that Cambridge version of Look East will be closed down on 16th December.
The tweet issued shortly after 4pm today read: “Team, we have decided not to broadcast tonight. For reasons detailed below. Please accept our sincere apologies. We were split. We’re here to serve you and we love broadcasting live. But that’s not possible tonight. We’ll sup on the red bull and come back tomorrow, with wings on.”
The “reasons detailed below” is believed to reference a tweet posted by Mousumi at 11am today: “Dear Anyone Who Is Interested. Our last BBC Look East programme will air on December 16. Merry Christmas to the Cambridge team.”
5pm HD versions of ITV 2, ITV 3 and ITV 4 will be free-to-air on Sky from tomorrow
Sky has confirmed that ITV 2 HD, ITV 3 HD and ITV 4 HD will no longer require a subscription from 1st November.
The announcement comes days ahead of the launch of ITVX, a new on-demand service, which will offer all ITV broadcast channels in HD.
The switch to HD also coincides with the anniversaries of ITV 3 and ITV 4.
Freesat has not yet confirmed if/when the channels will be offered in HD.
Due to technical constraints, there’s no prospect of ITV 2, ITV 3 and ITV 4 being made available on Freeview for the foreseeable future.
7.30pm First weekday early evening BBC Midlands Today from temporary set
As reported on Clean Feed over the weekend, BBC Midlands Today moved into a temporary studio set-up on Saturday.
Today saw the first weekday early evening edition of the programme from the small set.
The programme will remain in its temporary accommodation whilst its main studio undergoes an upgrade. The new-look studio is expected on air early next year.

11.15am ITV 2/3/4 HD now free-to-air on Sky
At around 10.30am, ITV 2 HD went free-to-air on the Sky platform.
Shortly before 10.50am, the encryption on ITV 3 HD was lifted. ITV 4 HD was in the clear from 11am.
UPDATE from @a516digital at 2.40pm: Freesat data has now been added to ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD and added to Freesat’s internal test bouquet on LCN 187 – 189. So these channels will be coming to Freesat.
However, as we’ve seen with Channel 4 HD regions and BBC Two NI HD, channels can remain in test mode for a quite a while.
