The final editions of Dateline London and The Film Review have been broadcast on the BBC News Channel this evening.

Shaun Ley presented the final Dateline London at 7.30pm on the BBC News Channel.

During its 25 years on air, the programme has had a number of presenters, including Charles Wheeler, Gavin Esler, Maxine Mawhinney, Carrie Gracie and Shaun Ley.

The format remained more or less the same over the years, with leading UK and foreign journalists providing their perspective on domestic and international stories.

And the weekly film review programme, which began life as Film 24 in the BBC News 24 era has also come to an end this evening.

Film critic Mark Kermode had been with the programme from the start. His co-presenters over the years included Gavin Esler, Ben Brown, Victoria Derbyshire and Martine Croxall.

Jane Hill, who has co-presented the programme since 2017, was there alongside Kermode for the programme’s final outing this evening.
