BBC News branding inconsistencies on Twitter

BBC News officially adopted the new BBC masterbrand logo on air in April. As ever, with the rollout of the new BBC blocks, News has been no exception when it comes to gaps and inconsistency.

This article is focusing on the branding of various regional, national and international BBC News accounts on Twitter.

Nations and regions

The vast majority of nations and regions adopted the new branding around the time of the on air launch. However, as can be seen from the snapshot below, taken on 23rd July, there are a handful of accounts still displaying the old Gill Sans branding.

21st January 2023: BBC Look North (Hull) moves to temporary studio to allow for studio upgrade.

24th January: the first stage of the BBC’s transition to HD-only broadcasting on satellite begins.

- BBC One South HD launches.
- BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC Two Northern Ireland go HD-only.
- BBC One Nightlight will appear on channel 101 on older, SD-only satellite receivers in South England and Northern Ireland. This is an SD-only version of BBC One, with no local programming.

2024: BBC Radio 4 Extra goes online-only.
