The world grinds to a halt on the BBC News Channel

Technical gremlins seem to be a fairly regular thing on the BBC News Channel these days – and we had another minor cock-up late this evening.

At 11.30pm we had the usual headline recap, followed by a sting. After a few seconds, the sting came to a halt. The frozen globe logo remained on screen for thirty seconds, in silence.

We then cut to presenter Ben Thompson, who had just started to welcome us to The Papers, when he was rudely interrupted by the segment’s opening titles.

The titles played out normally, before we returned to Ben, who saw the funny side of it all. The programme then continued normally.
