2pm ITV Creates moves on to Jason Wilsher-Mills and Judith Hope

This series of idents was first aired in April 2020.

9pm Name change for BBC News’ Context
Launched on 11th January, Context airs four nights a week on the BBC News Channel and BBC World News. A regular panel of guests from across the political spectrum discuss the biggest international stories of the day, along with interviews and analysis from BBC correspondents around the globe.
Not quite three months on air and the programme has had a name change. But you’d be forgiven for not noticing. Yesterday, the programme returned from its weekend break as The Context. And a horizontal BBC News logo has been added to the title sequence.

7pm BBC North West news staff vote overwhelmingly in favour of strike action
More than 97% of NUJ members at BBC North West have voted for work to rule action, protesting at the “damaging” impact of job cuts on news output.
Paul Siegert, NUJ national broadcasting organiser, said: “This dispute is about workloads and maintaining quality and standards. We understand the BBC has limited funding and resources but we are asking that BBC managers, who in some cases have never carried out these duties, listen to their staff who fulfill them every single day.
“Twenty two staff have left in the past year or so and the remaining staff are being asked to do more, work harder and learn even more technical skills that have nothing to do with journalism.
“The strain is already showing on them but, equally as important, it will soon start to show on what the public sees on their TVs. NUJ members care passionately about quality which is why they are taking industrial action to protect regional news now and for the future. If they don’t fight to protect quality and standards nobody else will.”

2am BBC Chameleon project finally delivers updated in-junction BBC Sport graphics
Finally, in-junction BBC Sport trails (the ones voiced live by the continuity announcer) have been updated by the Chameleon project. This example is from BBC One Northern Ireland tonight.
Oddly, these graphics were not updated as part of the introduction of the new masterbrand and channel branding on the main TV channels in October.
9pm BBC News Channel Islands countdown sequence
One of our readers drew our attention to this countdown sequence, which apparently has been a regular fixture for some time now after the early evening regional news programme on BBC One in the Channel Islands.
The sequence allows the Channel Islands news gallery to meet BBC Spotlight at a clean point, after their own fifteen-minute programme has finished.

7pm BBC North West regional news programme fails to air
BBC North West has apologised for the lack of regional news update on BBC One at teatime. The programme was unable to be broadcast due to technical difficulties.
Presenter Steve Saul later provided additional information about the fault: “It all works smoothly 99.9% of the time- tonight though we had a software failure in the control gallery which meant we couldn’t opt (broadcast). You would have seen the BBC News Channel instead which is the sustaining feed from network BBC One for these (rare) occasions.”
