Not a great start to Saturday for the BBC News Channel

Posted on 19th March 2022 by The Clean Feed Team Last updated on 21st March 2022 Filed under Bloopers

Moments after the BBC One/BBC News Channel simulcast of BBC Breakfast ended this morning, the 24-hour news channel ran into technical difficulties.

The endboard for BBC Breakfast remained on screen much longer than normal and was accompanied by the music we’d normally associate with the BBC News Channel’s countdown sequence at the top of the hour.

Around 15 seconds later, a breakdown caption appeared, reading “We apologise for the interruption. The programme will continue as soon as possible.” The countdown music remained.

After 25 seconds, we cut to one of the familiar countdown sequences – albeit minus the usual on-screen countdown clock.

After a further 15 seconds or so, live rolling news programming resumed.
