2pm ITV sticks with current ITV Creates ident for the time being
There was no change of ident set for ITV in the Monday 1.30pm junction this week. Potentially because Russell Bamber’s week was interrupted on Tuesday and Wednesday by the (presumably unplanned) reappearance of Anna Berry’s idents.
6.30pm BBC News Channel decamps to Studio A for the afternoon
The BBC News Channel was based in the green-screen Studio A this afternoon, 2pm – 6pm. It’s not known why Studio E was unavailable during this period.
7.30pm The old BBC Alba DOG has reappeared today
A technical glitch that caused the old BBC Alba DOG to reappear late last week has struck again today. The fault was previously corrected in the early hours of Sunday morning.

UPDATE: shortly after midnight, the old DOG was faded out and the correct one was quickly reinstated.
UPDATE: the glitch with the channel DOG was due to the channel switching to backup playout arrangements over the weekend, whilst work was carried out on servers. The back-up set-up didn’t have the up-to-date DOG.
7.30pm Extended pre-launch promotion loop running on BBC Three test channels
An updated pre-launch promotion loop is running on the BBC Three test channels this evening. The latest version is 30-minutes long. The black/white full-screen logo featured in the previous, shorter loop has been replaced by a more colourful version.
The 30-minute loop is similar to the one broadcast on 10th January – but the latest version does not include the channel break bumper and ident examples.
Incidentally, the Sky channel number system for BBC Three was confirmed earlier:
- England (excluding London), Northern Ireland and Wales: 117 (HD)
- London: 173 (HD)
- Scotland: 141 (HD)
- UK-wide: 845 (SD)
On Sky Glass, BBC Three will appear on channel 118 (119 in Wales).

2pm Another week on ITV for Emily Forgot’s work
A slight delay in the rotation of ITV Creates idents this week. Usually, we’d move on to a fresh set of idents in the 1.30pm Monday junction but this week it was 1.30pm on Tuesday.
The delay is potentially due to what appeared to be a playout scheduling mishap last Tuesday and Wednesday, when last week’s artist – Russell Bamber – had his work replaced by that of Anna Berry, whose work was played out the previous week.
And this week, it’s Emily Forgot’s turn to get another airing for her set of ITV Creates idents, which were first aired in August 2019.

UPDATE: it seems that one of Emily Forgot’s idents was played out in the 6pm regional news junction on Monday. Thanks to Twitter user @Camwoj145 for flagging this.

10am Virgin Media cable viewers in England get regionalised BBC One HD from today

2.30am BBC One NI hits the mark with News Channel handover
The haphazard scheduling of the late-night handover to the BBC News Channel on BBC One doesn’t make the task of providing a clean transition to the overnight news service easy. But BBC One Northern Ireland seems to make a particular effort to try and make this often messy junction look more professional.
