A 30-minute programme highlights loop is now airing as part of a test transmission for BBC Three. The sequence has been going out on hidden channels on digital satellite and the digital terrestrial network since 7pm this evening.

The new channel is expected to be added to programme lists by platform operators later this month. In the meantime, engineers will continue to carry out tests on video, audio, access services and programme listings data.

The preview loop can be accessed on digital satellite via the Add Channels option, using the following values:

BBC THREE HDBBC THREE SD
Frequency: 10847
Polarisation: Vertical
Mode: DVB-S2/8PSK
Symbol Rate: 23000
FEC: 3/4
Frequency: 10818
Polarisation: Vertical
Mode: DVB-S/QPSK
Symbol Rate: 22000
FEC: 5/6

Certain types of receiver will allow access to the hidden channels on DTT. Most viewers will have to wait until the channel is added to the Freeview channel list.

Engineering work to reconfigure the transmission network in preparation for the launch of BBC Three began in earnest last Wednesday evening, when CBBC closed down at 6.58pm for the first time since 2016.

Some presentation-related highlights from the preview loop (our edit actually starts at the end of the sequence).
