Journalist strike takes STV News off the air

All today’s planned Scottish news programming from STV has been cancelled because of strike action by the National Union of Journalists.

The union has taken the action as a result of a dispute with STV management over compulsory redundancies and the cessation of dedicated news production for the north of Scotland.

The usual Scottish news bulletins within Good Morning Britain were replaced by bulletins produced by ITV Border News.

A series of programme promotions replaced the lunchtime edition of STV News.

An edition of Sean’s Scotland was shown instead of the STV News at 6.

The late STV News was replaced by Sean’s Scotland Postcard.

And in place of the planned edition of Scotland Tonight, STV joined the rest of the ITV network for the film, Taken.
