3.35pm ITV Lunchtime News in smaller studio ahead of on air changes
The ITV Lunchtime News has been based in the smaller Studio 3 since last week, as updates to the main studio (Studio 1) continue ahead of January’s on air changes.
Since the programme moved to Studio 3 there have been some days where there’s been no voiceover introduction at the start of the programme and no theme tune at the end.
From early January, Good Morning Britain will share ITN’s Studio 1 with ITV News.
It’s believed both programmes will use physical sets. This is quite a departure for ITV News which has been using green screen for its news programmes for many years.
The new sets are expected to air for the first time on 5th January 2026.
Prior to that, preparatory work is ongoing in Studio 1.
Whilst the weekday early evening and late news programmes have managed to remain in Studio 1 for the time being, there will be some temporary changes over the Christmas period.
All ITV News programmes are expected to come from Studio 3 from 27th December until 4th January.
