Technical error delays opening headlines on ITV News at Ten

The “bongs” headline sequence that usually marks the start of the ITV News at Ten was delayed tonight when a preview of the programme was played out in error.

The ten-second preview – which already aired prior to the ad break leading into the ITV News at Ten – was cued again in error at the start of the programme.

A VT clock then appeared and was briefly interrupted by an ITV Weather sting. The clock counted down from 20 seconds, leading up to the usual headline sequence.

Immediately after the headlines, presenter Tom Bradby apologised for the technical problems.
