Sky News unveils new studio set for Friday Night with Niall Paterson
Monday 8th April
6pm Sky closes SD version of Irish-language channel TG 4
The standard definition version of Irish-language TV channel TG 4 has been closed down on the Sky platform.
TG 4 will now be HD-only on Sky. The channel is only available to viewers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
TG 4 has been HD-only on the Irish DTT platform Saorview since late-2022.
Some transmitter sites in Northern Ireland continue to broadcast an SD version of TG 4.
Thursday 11th April
6pm RTÉ One goes HD on Sky in Northern Ireland
Sky viewers in Northern Ireland can now receive RTÉ One in HD for the first time.
Whilst Sky viewers in the Republic of Ireland have been able to receive the channel in high-definition for many years, viewers in Northern Ireland have had to make do with standard-definition picture quality on the main RTÉ TV channel.
RTÉ 2 HD however has been available on Sky in Northern Ireland for many years now.
Irish-language channel, TG 4, went HD-only on Sky on Monday, for viewers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Friday 12th April
10pm Sky News unveils new studio set for Friday Night with Niall Paterson
The Millbank-based studio for Friday Night with Niall Paterson has been updated.
The video wall now displays 8k cityscape imagery. The studio desk and furniture have also been updated. New lighting provides a sharper, more dynamic appearance.
