Opening minutes of STV News blacked out by technical fault

Viewers of tonight’s 6pm edition of STV News were greeted by black screens at the start of the programme.

The first three-and-a-half minutes of the programme was blacked out as a result of a technical fault.

The programme eventually made it on air during the latter stages of the package for the top story.

A short time later, the presenter apologised for the problems, and the top story was replayed.
