ITV’s migration to all-HD broadcasting on satellite completed a major milestone earlier today, when the remaining missing HD channels were activated on satellite.
ITV 1 Border Scotland HD, ITV 1 Channel Television HD and ITVBe HD are now on-air, awaiting full integration on the Sky Q/+HD and Freesat Electronic Programme Guides.
According to a recent announcement by ITV, the new ITV 1 HD services should be live on EPGs by the end of the month.
Border Scotland HD first went live last week, with Channel HD and ITVBe HD popping up at lunchtime today.
Recent internal upgrades at ITV means the broadcaster can now fit seven instead of six HD channels on each of its three HD transponders. This compares with just five channels on BBC transponders with the same configuration.
Although the BBC also carries data and radio services, ITV transponders are usually more fully utilised when analysed side-by-side.
