Sky subscribers in the Republic of Ireland will be able to access Virgin Media’s fourth channel from Thursday 27th April, eight months after the channel first launched on Saorview and Virgin Media’s own cable network.
The general entertainment channel will have coverage from the UEFA Youth League from 6pm on its Sky launch night.
Virgin Media Four will be available in HD only on Sky, becoming the first of Virgin Media Ireland’s channels to do without an SD simulcast on satellite.
On Sky Q/Sky+HD, the service will launch on channel 160. On Sky Glass/Stream, Virgin Media Four will appear on channel 159.
Virgin Media Four HD has been testing (encrypted) on satellite ahead of its launch on the platform:
Satellite: Astra 2E, transponder 34
Frequency/Polarisation: 12363V
Symbol Rate: 27500
FEC: 2/3
Mode: DVB-S2 8PSK
Service ID: 5044
Despite the launch of Virgin Media Four HD on Sky, subscribers in Ireland will still be without the fifth channel of the group: Virgin Media More. That channel remains exclusive to customers of Virgin Media Ireland’s own TV service.
Virgin Media Ireland’s TV channels are not distributed outside of the Republic of Ireland. Viewers in Northern Ireland may receive overspill Saorview reception.
