UTV Live bulletin plagued by technical issues

Tonight’s edition of UTV Live was significantly impacted by technical problems.

The problems were evident from the start when viewers were greeted by a VT clock and audio from a report on the lead story. We then briefly saw some video of the lead report, largely minus audio.

The presenter then appeared in-vision and linked into the lead story. A frozen image from the package then appeared and remained on screen for just over ten seconds. The director could be heard – via the presenter’s earpiece – battling with the technology and using some colourful language.

Further technical issues ensued. However, all planned stories were at least covered verbally by the presenter.

To compensate for the loss of some video packages, the presenter recapped the lead story verbally at the end of the programme and informed viewers that a full report was available online.

However, the programme still finished a minute earlier than planned. The spare time was filled by displaying the end production caption accompanied by the closing music.

Presenter Judith Hill apologised for the technical problems a number of times during the bulletin.
