Special presentation for St Patrick’s Day in Ireland

Posted on 17th March 2022 by The Clean Feed Team

Not much in the way of special presentation for St Patrick’s Day on RTÉ One and RTÉ 2 this year. And nothing from BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC Two Northern Ireland either. But TG 4 saved the day.

RTÉ One and RTÉ 2 revealed St Patrick’s Day-themed channel DOGs. The same special DOGs were used on 17th March last year. But unlike last year, the shamrock decoration remained in place until the early hours of 21st March.

Apart from the DOGs, there was no other St Patrick-related presentation on the RTÉ channels.

Although RTÉ News has been known to use special studio presentation, graphics and titles on the St Patrick’s holiday, there were no such adjustments on the RTÉ One news programmes this year.

However, Nuacht RTÉ le TG4 (shown at 5.45pm) did oblige. The normally blue titles were recoloured green. Some graphics and set elements also adopted green colouring.

So no surprise that TG 4’s main news programme at 7pm featured similar green updates.

And TG 4 had special idents and break bumpers for St Patrick’s Day. Standard graphics for in-vision continuity though.
