ITV daytime shows disrupted by security alert

Today’s editions of This Morning and Loose Women were disrupted as a result of a security alert at White City.

Television Centre – where both shows are based – was evacuated at around 12.15pm.

Shortly before 12.15pm, This Morning headed into a commercial break. At this point the programme had been broadcasting live, as usual.

However, after the commercial break, we had a pre-recorded, highlights edition of This Morning, including a full title sequence. There was no on air explanation for the switch to a pre-recorded edition of the show.

At 12.30pm, the pre-recorded show headed into a commercial break, with the promise of more highlights after the break.

In fact, immediately after the commercial break, we headed into a pre-recorded, compilation version of Loose Women. Again, no on-air explanation was provided for the lack of live show.

ITV Playout overlaid a caption on the pre-recorded shows: “This is a pre-recorded programme”.

The ITV Lunchtime News went out as planned at 1.30pm.

The Metropolitan Police said the security incident was stood down at 12.49pm.
