A rehearsal of the 1pm headline sequence was broadcast in error on the BBC News channel minutes prior to the top of the hour.
The 12pm edition of BBC News Now ended normally at 12.55pm. However, the final frame of the programme’s closing sequence remained on screen for over 30 seconds.
We then returned to presenter Annita McVeigh in Studio E – as she was speaking with a colleague (out of shot) – albeit there was no sound. Annita then began reading content on her phone.
About a minute later, a rehearsal of the 1pm headline sequence began – once without presenter voiceover, and a second time with the presenter running through the headlines verbally.
Seconds before 1pm, we cut abruptly to the final seconds of a live interview (which was presumably the intended output in the lead-up to the hour).
Scheduled output then resumed on the respective versions of the BBC News channel.
On the UK strain of the channel, the headline lower-thirds from the international version were overlaid in error at the start of the programme.
